All 1000 Crops workshops are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. They are by donation at the event. Farmers and gardeners are always on the lookout for new crops. Crop diversity spreads out the risks, staggers the harvests and extends times of income generation. This can lead to a steady stream of income year round. This one-day workshop will give an overview of 50 crop categories involving thousands of potential crops including medicinal plants and Northwest native plants. We will make extensive use of images from the internet.See a specialized listing of crops for Spokane that Michael has compiled HERE. Bring a list of plants you are interested in. Bring your questions. The workshop will allow us to draw on the knowledge and personal experience of the participants. Everyone will go away with new ideas. This is an opportunity to form a network of farmers and plant people to share information on a continuing basis. Suggested donation: $20 to $50.

Inland Northwest Herbalists Gathering May 8-9, 2015 near Spokane, Washington At the Heartsong Retreat Center, Tumtum Followed by a one-day Spokane Herbal Fair May 10, Sunday At the Corbin Senior Center in Spokane The first part of the event will bring herbalists and herbal students from around Eastern Washington, Idaho and Montana together for two days of education, networking and camaraderie. Heartsong Retreat Center is a nice rural venue where we can camp and eat together, do plant walks, etc. This will largely be a camp out since there are minimal indoor accomodations. Registration opens Thursday afternoon for those who wish to stay Thursday night. We will put a list of local motels and accomodations on the website. Sunday will be a large herbal exposition for the general public of Spokane (and area) who are interested in herbal products and natural health care. It will be right in Spokane to make it easy for people to get there. Our goal is to attract 500 to 1,000 people to a vibrant marketplace where herbalists and herbal product companies can sell and promote a wide range of products and services. The herbalists gathering will continue on Sunday at the Spokane Herbal Fair venue with additional workshops as well as the herbal fair. Many of the herbalists attending Friday and Saturday will also have tables at the herbal fair, plus we anticipate additional herbal vendors who were not at the 2-day event. If you would like to become a vendor at the Fair on Sunday, you may APPLY HERE. Sunday will include workshops throughout the day. Introductory and advanced levels. The introductory workshops are free to the public. The advanced workshops are for herbalists and herbal students and will be a way for the momentum of the Friday/Saturday event to continue on Sunday at the venue in town. We hope most everyone who attended the rural Heartsong gathering will be part of the Sunday event. Sunday is a free event for the public. We will accept donations. Pay On-line at the Inland Northwest Permaculture Guild website.
